Terms of Service

What you are buying, what we owe you, and what happens if it goes wrong.

Version 1 · In effect from 7 August 2026

Who you are contracting with

CVfide is operated by CVFIDE (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2026/627961/07), of Unit UG09, Nobel Park, Bellville, 7535, South Africa. You can reach us at support@cvfide.com.

These terms apply when you create an account. If you do not accept them, do not create one.

What you are buying

A once-off fee builds your interactive CV. A monthly fee keeps it live at its web address. Current prices and what each tier includes are on the pricing page, which forms part of these terms.

You must be 18 or older, and you must be the person the CV describes. You may not build a profile for someone else, even with their permission — the entire product rests on the person interviewed being the person hired.

What we owe you

  • To build your profile from what you give us, and host it at the address you choose while your subscription is current.
  • To conduct your interview and give you the transcript and feedback.
  • To record only on our own servers, so the recording on your profile is genuinely you.
  • To keep your draft private until you publish it.
  • To give you an export and a delete button that actually work.

What we do not promise

We do not promise you a job, an interview, or a reply. We make you easier to believe. We cannot make anyone hire you, and any service that says otherwise is selling you something it cannot deliver.

We also do not promise uninterrupted availability. We will keep the service up and tell you when it is not, but this is a web service, not a utility.

What the verification badge actually claims

This matters more than most terms, because the badge is the product and overstating it would be the one dishonest thing we could do.

The badge on your profile claims exactly this, and nothing more:

  • That the recording was captured live on our servers on the date shown, and has not been edited since.
  • Where an identity check has been completed, that the person recorded matched the identity document presented.

It does not claim:

  • That anything you said is true.
  • That your qualifications or employment history are verified, unless a separate verification badge says so.
  • That we endorse you, rate you, or recommend you.

You must not describe the badge to anyone as meaning more than this. Doing so is a breach of these terms and grounds for us removing it.

What you owe us

  • Accuracy. Your CV must describe your own history honestly. We are not able to verify most of it, and we are relying on you.
  • Rights to what you upload. If your CV contains your referees' contact details, they should know.
  • Care with your account. Keep your password to yourself and tell us if you think someone else has it.
  • Honesty during the interview. Do not have someone else answer for you, and do not read from a script. Both defeat the point, and both are grounds for removing the badge.

Our Acceptable Use policy sets out what a profile may not be used for.

Paying, and stopping paying

Payment is in South African rands through Paystack. Your card details go to Paystack and never reach us. The build fee is charged once and includes your first month of hosting; the monthly fee starts after that.

Cancel the monthly fee whenever you like, from your dashboard. Your profile stays live to the end of the period you have paid for, then goes dark. We hold your content for 30 days after that in case you come back, then delete it.

If you would rather keep the address reserved while you are not job hunting, the parked tier does that at a lower price and keeps the page dark.

Refunds

If you change your mind within 7 days of paying and we have not yet conducted your interview, tell us and we will refund the build fee in full. This reflects the cooling-off right the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act gives consumers who buy online.

Once the interview has been conducted, the work is done and the build fee is not refundable — but if something genuinely went wrong, write to disputes@cvfide.com and we would rather sort it out than argue about it.

Monthly fees already paid are not refunded on cancellation, because you keep the service for the period you paid for.

Your content stays yours

You own your CV, your photographs, your recordings and your words. You give us a licence to store and display them so that the service can exist — that licence, and its limits, are set out in the Media and Publication Licence.

When we can suspend or close an account

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms or the Acceptable Use policy, that impersonates someone, or that we are legally required to act on. Where we can, we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix it. Where the breach is impersonation or fraud, we will not.

If we close your account for something that was not your fault, we refund the unused portion of what you have paid.

Limits on what we are liable for

Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including under the Consumer Protection Act, and nothing here excludes liability for our own fraud or gross negligence.

Subject to that, we are not liable for lost opportunities, lost earnings, or a job you did not get. Our total liability to you is limited to what you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of South Africa, and the courts of South Africa have jurisdiction. If you have a complaint, write to disputes@cvfide.com first — most things are a misunderstanding, and we would rather fix it than litigate it. Your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, including the right to refer a complaint to the National Consumer Commission, are unaffected.

Changes to these terms

This is version 1. We will tell you before a material change takes effect. If you do not accept the change, you may cancel and we will refund the unused portion of your current period.
